Parkside Health Center
Parkside Health Center
Spartanburg | SC
This innovative adaptive reuse project transformed a previously vacant grocery store into a state-of-the-art medical office. When Tribe 513 engaged Equip Studio on the project they were in need of new space for their growing practice and saw the potential long term benefit of purchasing a space large enough for multiple practices to share resources.
The project preserved the building’s original structure and character while integrating modern healthcare infrastructure, ensuring a seamless transition from retail space to medical facility. The airlock that once housed shopping carts is now home to a cafe that serves patients, employees, and the local community. New skylights and an indoor playground in the building center create an indoor park space flooded with natural daylight. Three different medical practices are housed under one roof with shared break room, meeting, and restroom space for employees. Ample parking and convenient access routes cater to the needs of visitors seeking medical care. This adaptive reuse stands as a testament to creative planning and sustainable development, demonstrating how thoughtful repurposing can breathe new life into neighborhoods while serving essential community services.
