Capstone Church in Fountain Inn, SC reached out to Equip in Spring 2021 to begin a masterplan exercise that would help them expand their literal and metaphorical footprint. Their mission is to “seek the welfare of our city through creating space to bless and better our community.” That said, the church is looking at their facility expansion as a way to shift their image to become a community center that a church gathers in (serve the church on Sundays and the community Monday-Saturday). Phase 1 of our proposed masterplan includes a gymnatorium with back-of-house space (for rec basketball) lobby addition with an admin mezzanine (~4,500 sf.) re-worked parking, and dedicated outdoor community space. Operable doors will provide connectivity between indoor and outdoor community spaces. Using high volumes, bright light, and warm wood tones throughout the facility will help Sunday guests and weekly drop-ins feel welcome and comfortable.

Additionally, some existing space will be renovated to become a café with outdoor patio that will operate throughout the week, adjacent to a playground open to the community. Some of the church’s existing space will also be renovated to provide the children’s ministry with extra square footage, dedicated lobby space, check-in area, and a second large-group space.
