Equip Studio was engaged to help Ashley Ridge master plan and design a 45,000 square foot facility located on 25 acres of a new “Live, Work, Play” planned community. As part of a 50-year, 78,000 acre masterplan, developed by low-country organization MeadWestVaco (MWV), Ashley Ridge wanted to be a church in the center of a community, not just a “Community Center”. Equip was tasked with designing a facility that reflected the low-country ideals but also evoked progressive emotions, showing that the church was active and present, fitting within the new urbanist community plan. The design includes a phase one 750-seat performing arts venue, children’s theaters and classrooms, administrative areas, and a 7-day Coffee House that will be used by the church on Sundays as their Cafe and Next Steps environments.
Design is scheduled to be completed by Fall 2016 with construction to begin shortly thereafter.
