United Community Plaza

Spartanburg | SC

Equip Studio partnered with United Community Bank to design a new mixed-use development at the corner of East Main and Pine in downtown Spartanburg. Located on a prominent corner in the center of town, this project serves as a new “gateway” into downtown Spartanburg from the east side of the city. In addition to the new downtown branch of United Community Bank, the project will also consist of restaurant spaces, offices, and various retail spaces.

We drew inspiration from the town’s history as a 1900s mill and railroad hub. Accent pieces such as light fixtures and railings were designed in collaboration with the Heirloom Companies to mimic teller stands from that period. The new building features high ceilings, timeless furniture, and a large, custom staircase that demands attention from each guest as they enter. In conjunction with the staircase, the main entry features a large custom chandelier supports the celebration of Spartanburg’s history. This space isn’t just a financial institution, it’s a place for community to feel at home.
