Hotel Florence & Victor’s Bistro

Florence | SC

Hotel Florence was part of a vision to bring life back into the neglected downtown of Florence, SC. It’s an adaptive re-use project consolidating multiple levels of three adjacent buildings, all originally constructed in 1900. After the “modernization” of these structures in the ’60s and ’70s, they continued to suffer from much deterioration. Therefore, Hotel Florence is a beautiful boutique hotel/restaurant that represents a marriage of picturesque historical features and luxurious contemporary style.

Equip Studio was engaged to renovate these buildings by locating individual hotel rooms across three levels of meeting rooms, in addition to the bar and restaurant on the first level level. This historical façade (and many significant interior components) was restored and/or reconstructed to its original historical nature. Because the spaces were re-distributed across three different buildings but not completely integrated, the design became a rigorous exercise in creativity and organization. What has been achieved made this project a landmark for the city of Florence and a linchpin for the revitalization of its downtown.
