Calvary Church – Jupiter Farms

Jupiter | FL

Located outside of West Palm Beach in Jupiter, FL, Calvary Church found themselves in need of more space due to substantial growth in their congregation. However, they couldn’t approach their facility needs like most churches would. Calvary Church is part of a planned community called Jupiter Farms which brought both advantages and hurdles. Things like shared parking with neighboring retail parcels and great visibility were major advantages. However, very strict design standards and area limitations made for some speed bumps along the way. As a church that is driven by hospitality, the design requirement of a front porch worked in favor of Calvary. Not only did our designed solution satisfy the development requirements, but it provides functional, outdoor connection space for the congregation and emphasized their desire to welcome the community. Through implementation of high volume glass and a light, coastal finish palette, the lobby became an enclosed version of this outdoor space. This helps to provide more space for connection that can seamlessly flow out to the porch. Additionally, the lobby was designed in a manor that allows guests to see entrances for nearly all major ministry elements from the first steps through the front door. Creating this easy, intuitive experience was a primary focus for the team throughout the entire design, from the placement of the covered drop-off to the flow of the space within the building.

The design of this large, 49k sf. facility takes on a coastal residential feel, using a sloped roof system and shade louvers on the exterior. Again this was done intentionally to contribute to Calvary’s desire to convey a sense of “home” in the community. Since completion of construction in 2019, the church has seen significant growth in numbers, but most importantly in impact.
