Brian Sowell joined Equip Studio after moving to Clemson with his wife, Elisa, in the Fall of 2017. Brian is a Texas native and brings an extensive construction and design background spanning over a decade to Equip Studio. Having participated in construction projects with his dad from as early as he can remember, Brian also began a landscape design and construction company early in his teens. Interning with an Austin-area architecture firm after highschool convinced Brian to sell his business to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Texas A&M.
In 2014 Brian graduated from the Texas A&M College of Architecture, summa cum laude, honors fellow. He continued on to earn a Masters of Architecture from Rice University in 2017, complimenting his degree with several classes from the real estate development MBA program. During his studies Brian interned for several architecture firms in Texas where he engaged in projects ranging from churches to restaurants, education, mixed use development, and high-end residential. In 2015 he began his own design consulting firm working in the Texas Hill Country, developing projects from ranch houses to breweries.
He is most passionate about developing spaces that respond to the psychological and physical needs of their inhabitants and serve as a catalyst for the social interactions that fuel discussion and creativity. His scholarship and design focus on delivering unique spatial experiences by leveraging analytical and computational design.
